Greetings to our new church family

Pastor GregThe Apostle Paul would begin a letter of greeting as I begin this to you: To the saints in McCutchanville, the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are being led to your church beginning July 1, 2016. You have been served faithfully for generations by pastors in the Methodist Tradition, and we look forward to serving you as appointed by Bishop Coyner. Presently I am serving full time at Loogootee and will be until June 30th. The moving van will bring our possessions to our new home in Evansville on June 16th and our first Sunday to be with you will be Sunday, July 3rd . I have two intentions with this letter. One is to introduce myself and my family to you and secondly to invite you to come and worship on Sunday, July 3rd.

First of all, I am married to Teresa (Briscoe) Davis, and we have been married for forty-one years. Teresa grew up in Petersburg, went to the University of Evansville, majoring in Radiologic Technology, and is retired. I graduated from Otwell, and too attended the University of Evansville, graduating in 1975 with a BS in Accounting. Shortly after this, I became employed at Kimball International in Jasper and worked there for twenty-four years. In the late nineties, I accepted the call from God for pastoral ministry, and was appointed as a full-time local pastor to Patoka on July 1, 1999. From there I attended Course of Study School at Emory University (Candler School of Theology) in Atlanta, GA, and following this Advanced Course of Study school at Emory, Duke, and Asbury. Upon completion of the required seminary hours, I was commissioned as an elder in the church in 2008, and became an ordained elder in the UMC at Annual Conference in 2011. We have three grown children, Matthew, age 38, a middle school English teacher in Seoul, Korea, Matthew is married to Sun (an elementary teacher in Seoul) and last October blessed us with our first grandchild, Colton. Mark, age 36, is an architect in Philadelphia, and Megan, age 32, is a hair stylist and will be moving with us to Evansville. We have made two trips to South Korea in the past six months, and will likely make more in the future to visit our family there.

We have served the Lord and His church for many years in the local church and have had the privilege over the past seventeen years to be in pastoral ministry. We will be retiring from fulltime ministry on June 30th; however, we were led to continue serving, which has led us to McCutchanville. We are looking forward to joining with you. This time of year, many of us receive invitations to weddings and graduations. I too wish to make this an invitation to you, but you do not bring a gift because the gift of grace is always abundantly there for you. We hope that you will come and join us in worship beginning July 3, 2016, and receive all of the joy and peace that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ as we serve the Lord going forward.

In Christ,
Pastor Greg & Teresa
