Worship

Praise and Worship - Why Should We do it?

God alone is worthy of our devotion, praise and worship. He is God, our Creator, and we are commanded to praise and worship Him. Psalm 96:9 says, "Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth." Psalm 29:2 says, "Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." A life of praise and worship fills our deepest needs, and amazingly, it also brings great joy to God. Zephaniah 3:17 states, "The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Praise and Worship - How Do We do it?

God tells us how to praise and worship him in His Word. John 4:23 says, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." In order to worship God in truth, we need to know that Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." So, before you can worship in the way that God desires, you have to develop a relationship with Him through faith in Jesus, His Son.

The best way that we can praise and worship God is with our every thought and action. Romans 12:1-2 states, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Praise and Worship - Love from the Heart

Many people think that praise and worship is only singing songs at church, but it is so much more! It is also a condition of your heart -- a willingness to exalt God and yield to his will. Worship is an expression of love and awe to the God who gives us more than we deserve. Whether you express your worship by singing, playing music, dancing or in some other way, remember that you are called to worship God with your every action, every day of your life. God is holy, loving, and worthy of all our worship and devotion.

Worship and Praise at McCutchanville Community Church

Maybe you can tell from reading the prior paragraphs that we do not attempt to think that we have the “correct” worship approach planned just for you. At McCutchanville we simply want to place God firmly at the center of everything – in our music, in our prayers, in our study of Scripture, in our outreach, in our weekly messages and even on this website.

Undoubtedly, each individual has their own preferences in something often called worship style, but one should always remember that there is one God to worship with all our heart, mind and soul. You will find that sermons are always Scripturally based, whether the sermon is topical or part of an ongoing series. Our music is prepared by a worship leader and pianist, with the church choir often providing special music. Both hymns and praise music are utilized to make a joyful sound to the Lord.

Special occasions are recognized in our worship setting such as:

  • Sacraments provided: Holy Communion to all who desire to partake on the first Sunday of each month; Holy Baptism to infants, sponsored by adults, or believers who have not previously been baptized
  • During weekly worship, there will be a children’s sermon before children are dismissed for a prepared children’s church.
  • A nursery attendant is available for your little ones during worship time in order that you might get the most of your time spent with God
  • Advent sermons on the four Sundays prior to Christmas
  • Special Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service
  • Lent sermons, beginning with an Ash Wednesday service, and concluding with Maundy Thursday, and Sunrise Service on Easter morning
  • During the year there will often be Sermon Series presented on books of the Bible or relevant areas related to our Christian faith and lives
  • Weddings between a man and a woman are performed after counseling for the couple is given by the pastor
  • Funerals can be a very difficult time for loved ones, but in our worship at funerals we give thanks for God’s promise of eternal life as stated in Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
  • Throughout the year we will also have special services such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and others

We believe that you will discover a wonderful church home at the McCutchanville Community Church, where we welcome all who might desire to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The folks are friendly and welcoming and we have a seat just for you.
