MCC - Power Within Us
Heavenly Father,
On this Memorial Day, we pray for those who courageously laid down
their lives for the cause of freedom. May the example of their sacrifice
inspire in us the selfless love of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill their homes and their
lives with your strength and peace.
We pray through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
Christmas was God with us
Easter was God for us
Pentecost is God in us
Romans 8:11 (NIV)
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Jesus ascends to heaven
After His Resurrection Jesus appeared to
His Apostles and taught them many things
about the Kingdom Of God.
40 days after Easter Sunday He ascended
into heaven to be with God the Father
again. The Ascension is Christ's exaltation
and glory after His saving work on earth
had been accomplished. He promised the
Apostles that He was preparing a place for
them in heaven, and He prepares a place
for us too.
Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit
Before Jesus left, He promised to send the
Holy Spirit to the Apostles to help them. He
told them not to be afraid when He was gone.
"But the Counselor (Advocate), the Holy
Spirit, whom the Father will send in my
name, will teach you all things and will
remind you of everything I have said to
you." (John 14: 26)
Proverbs 1:7 (NIV)
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 9:10 (NLT)
10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
Isaiah 11:2 (NIV)
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
Isaiah 28:26 (NLT)
26 The farmer knows just what to do,
for God has given him understanding.
